A 72-year-old man's death in a car park was an accident, a coroner has ruled.

David Chivers had been stood by the open door of a car in the car park off Priorswell Road, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, on 12 September 2024 when the driver of the vehicle reversed.

Unable to react in time, Mr Chivers, of Worksop, was knocked to the ground and run over, suffering a fatal head injury.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At Nottingham Coroner's Court on Wednesday, assistant coroner Sarah Wood found the retired physics technician's death was accidental.
