A new pilot project in Cornwall will offer free support for students resitting their GCSEs with a diagnosis or screening test for dyslexia or dyscalculia.

The scheme, run by Dyslexia Cornwall, will run two courses in March and April 2024 to help students.

The charity provides support and services for dyslexic children and adults as well as educators and employers.

Laura Wright, from the charity, said there was "an absolute need for Dyslexia Cornwall to exist and offer support".

The charity has been running for more than 30 years and was originally set up by a group of parents concerned there was not enough support.

Ms Wright said: "We cover the whole of Cornwall the best we can, with things like advice days out in the community.

"We do training for organisations and businesses and we have a helpline service as well for everybody to call for help and support."

She said the new courses would help post-16 students "focus on revision skills and exam strategies and study techniques".
