A cat that had gone missing during a huge fire has since been found and returned home after suffering burns to its paws.

Oreo went missing after the blaze broke out at a disused printworks on Catherine Street in Crewe, Cheshire, on 9 August.

It was originally believed that the pet had been badly burned and left frightened by the incident, which saw dozens of nearby homes evacuated.

But Cheshire Police has since confirmed that the cat has been found and reunited with its owner, after receiving treatment for its burnt paws.

“Oreo is now being given plenty of love, rest and treatment at home,” police said on Facebook., external

Officers also revealed that Oreo’s vet bills had been covered by the Crewe, Nantwich and District branch of the RSPCA.

Three men were recently charged with arson with intent to endanger life over the fire and appeared in court on 16 August.
