Search for quad bike rider after fatal crash

Police are searching for the rider of a quad bike who was involved in a fatal Boxing Day crash before allegedly driving away from the scene.

Two women died in the collision which happened near the junction of Kitts Green Road and Mackadown Lane, Birmingham.

The crash involved the quad bike, a BMW 4 Series and an MG ZS.

Two female passengers in the MG, one in their 40s and one in their 70s, died at the scene.

West Midlands Police confirmed on Thursday they were still searching for the quad bike rider 48 hours on.

A man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remained in hospital and would be interviewed later, a statement read.

Another man who was questioned for assisting an offender has been released with no further action, officers added.

Four other people involved in the crash, including a young child, were taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

One of them remained in hospital on Thursday while the other three have been discharged.

"We are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area shortly after 20:00 GMT," the force said.
