Images of a man wanted for questioning in connection with a sexual assault in Derbyshire have been released.

Officers said the victim was approached by a man as she was walking along Darwin Road, Long Eaton, at about 00:45 BST on 14 July.

After being disturbed by a member of the public, the suspect ran off towards Eliot Close, before heading into an alleyway that runs between Wilsthorpe Road and Mannion Crescent.

Police said extra patrols were being put on in the area this weekend and asked homeowners in the area with CCTV or doorbell footage to check images from the night.

Ongoing enquiries have suggested the man seen in the CCTV has ties to the Coventry and Lancaster areas, officers said.

He is described as white, tall and wearing dark clothing and shorts.

Det Ch Insp Claudia Musson said: “While we have some very positive lines of enquiry and been assisted greatly by the local community - I am sure there is more information in the community that can help us find this man.

“If you have CCTV in any of the above streets please contact us as a matter of urgency – you may hold a vital piece of the puzzle."
