Boat deliberately set alight in yard - police

One boat was deliberately set alight and a second boat and a fence at the property was damaged.

Police are investigating after a boat was deliberately set on fire in a Port Glasgow boat yard, causing "considerable damage".

No one was injured in the incident which happened at the yard on Queen Street at about 20:30 on Wednesday.

Police Scotland said a second boat and a fence at the address was also damaged in the blaze which was attended to by the Scottish Fire And Rescue Service.

Officers want to speak to a person in dark clothing seen at the time.

Det Con Laura Sokolov said: “Fortunately no one was injured but considerable damage was caused and the fire is being treated as wilful.

“Inquiries so far have established that a person wearing dark clothing was seen at the time and we are keen to speak to them and anyone else with information that could help with our investigation."
