Plans to transform a town park, which will see the local road layout transformed, have received council approval.
Test Valley Borough Council said the decision to grant planning permission on Tuesday for the new riverside park near Western Avenue in Andover was a huge leap forward.
It said by changing the road layout and creating a space for inviting landscapes and accessible pathways along the River Anton it will connect the town with its natural assets.
The project is being part-funded with £18.3m government regeneration funding and work is expected to begin in late 2026.
Councillor Phil North, leader of Test Valley Borough Council, said: "This is a hugely exciting moment for Andover. The new riverside park will be a place for everyone - a green, inclusive and inspiring space that reflects the aspirations of our community and the character of our town."
The designs include a central square, viewing platform, and areas for play, events and food stalls.
Representatives from the local community have been involved in the planning process and the council has said there will be further opportunities for involvement throughout the delivery of the project.
"I'm incredibly proud of the collaborative work that has brought us to this point, and I look forward to seeing the transformation take shape," Councillor North said.
