A nightclub at the centre of a shooting that left four people injured has said it will remain closed until further notice and is reviewing its security procedures.

One man was critically wounded in the attack at Mango nightclub in Birmingham in the early hours of Saturday, although officers said on Sunday he was now stable in hospital. Three others received less serious injuries.

West Midlands Police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday morning. Three women in their 20s and 30s were also questioned on suspicion of violent disorder.

They have since been released on bail while the investigation continues, a force spokesperson said.

In a statement posted on social media, managers of the club said the safety of guests and staff was their top priority, adding their thoughts were those affected.

The statement said: "We are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation and will continue to support them in every way possible.

"As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe environment, we will be conducting a full review of our security procedures and working closely with the relevant authorities."

Police said they were "building a clearer picture" of what happened

Emergency services were called to the Bristol Street club at about 03:00 BST where they discovered three men and a woman had been injured.

On Sunday, police said a woman initially believed to have been shot was now thought to have fallen during the disturbance and has since been discharged from hospital.

Three others are being treated for gunshot injuries. Two of them are not thought to be life-threatening wounds, while the third man who was seriously injured is now stable in hospital.

Det Insp Rachael Allen said officers were "building a clearer picture" of what happened and were working "flat out" to identify everyone involved.

She said it was "still really important" for anyone who was inside the venue, or who may have taken pictures and video, to contact police.
