Rail services between parts of Surrey and London faced disruption on Friday due an incident involving a car near a level crossing at Egham.

No trains ran between Staines and Virginia Water in both directions for several hours on Friday afternoon, according to South Western Railway.

A spokesperson said at 17:45 GMT that all lines had reopened and at 20:00 that disruption to services had ended.

Trains to and from stations including London Waterloo, Reading and Windsor & Eton Riverside were affected.

South Western Railway advised that tickets would be accepted on London Underground, TfL, and some local bus services.

Network Rail Wessex posted on X a photo of the damage at Egham and thanked passengers for their patience.
