Work to restore road to traffic set to start

Work to restore a road to two-way traffic after a controversial pedestrianisation scheme is set to begin.
Torbay Council confirmed last month Paignton's Torbay Road would reopen to traffic in both directions.
A decision to pedestrianise the road in 2022 was criticised, with local traders saying it was "killing" business.
The council said work to make the necessary changes to return the road to two-way traffic would start on Monday.
In August last year, the road was reopened to traffic one way from Station Square to Queen's Road.
But on 21 March, council leader Dave Thomas announced on the street that it would be reopened to two-way traffic as the scheme was being scrapped.
Evening work planned
A statement from the council said its contractor SWISCo would start the process on Monday evening.
It said bollards and planters would be removed, temporary signs would be replaced by permanent ones and new road markings would be put on the road.
The council said the work, which would take place during the evenings to minimise disruption, was expected to take about two weeks to complete.
