Two teenagers have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a stabbing.

Essex Police was called to reports of an assault in Avon Road, Chelmsford, on Tuesday evening.

The force said a 18-year-old man suffered injuries that were initially thought to be life-threatening at about 20:25 BST.

A pair of 16-year-old boys from Chelmsford were due to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to hospital, police said.

"Thankfully, his condition is no longer believed to be life-threatening," a spokesperson added.
