Members of the public will have the opportunity to have a look behind the scenes of their local hospital.

The open day at Salisbury District Hospital will take place later and will include tours of several different departments, including the new Imber Ward.

Taking place between 10:00 and 15:00 BST, the event will also include live music, demonstrations, activities and displays.

Chief executive of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, Lisa Thomas, said they were "delighted" to invite the community to come and "get a behind the scenes look" at what the "dedicated staff do every day to provide quality care" to patients.

Children will be able to take part in a 'toy hospital'

"They’ll learn about many of the fascinating things that go on in our hospital that they would not normally get to see," she said.

"This will be a great day of fun and entertainment for the whole family. If last year is anything to go by, we will have lots of laughs and smiles," she added.

'toy hospital' will also be available for children, alongside hi-tech lifelike simulation mannequin and therapy pets.

Emergency services including the police and the fire service will also be in attendance.
