Lorry blaze at landfill site tackled by fire crews

Fire crews were seen at the site just off the A10 near Cambridge

Firefighters have tackled a lorry blaze at a landfill site near Cambridge.

Crews were called to FCC Environment's site off the A10 near Milton at about 14:00 BST.

They found the lorry "well alight", but managed to extinguish it later in the afternoon.

"One crew will be remaining to check for hot spots and regular inspections will be made," a Cambridgeshire fire service spokesperson said on Wednesday evening.

Milton residents posted pictures on a local Facebook group showing black smoke billowing into the air.
