The old Broadwalk venue would be pulled down for the new plans

Developers wanting to build flats at the site of a closed down Swindon nightclub have put in a third set of planning proposals.

Armada Holdings has already been given permission for two other plans but has now come back with a third.

It said it wanted to turn 32-34 Bridge Street, formerly used as the Broadwalk bar and club, into commercial units and 23 flats.

However, it has included financial viability statement which said it cannot afford to offer any as affordable homes.

It was initially given permission in March to transform the building into a commercial space with five apartments, but two months later got the go-ahead to demolish the entire building and start afresh with 19 flats.

Now the company has submitted another plan similar to the previous one, reported the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The application said: “The new proposal adds an additional storey, maintaining a recessed fifth floor and setting back the sixth floor further to ensure the additional height is not visible from the street.

"This design adheres to the positive feedback from the previous application while incorporating an extra floor to optimise site capacity in an appropriate manner.”
