Man accused of attempted murder in disorder probe

A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a gun was fired during disorder in Birmingham.

Kye Lemathy appeared at the city’s magistrates’ court on Thursday where he was also accused of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The 21-year-old was charged as part of a police investigation into the disorder at the junction of Witton Road and Endicott Road in Aston on Saturday.

A firearm was discharged during the incident and a man was also treated for stab wounds, West Midlands Police said.

Mr Lemathy, of Holte Road, Birmingham, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 14 November.

A 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to the disorder has since been bailed pending further inquiries, a police spokesperson said.
