Hotel 'shocked and saddened' after guest fall death

A hotel said it was "shocked and saddened" after a guest fell from a bedroom window and died.

Northamptonshire Police said a murder investigation was taking place after a man aged in his 30s was pronounced dead outside Hind Hotel on Sheep Street, Wellingborough, at about 00:30 BST on Monday.

A 34-year-old man from Rushden has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

In a post on Facebook, external, the hotel said it remained open and encouraged witnesses to contact the police.

"Whilst the hotel remains open, the management and staff are shocked and saddened at the tragedy that has unfolded at our historic venue.

"Our thoughts are with family and friends of the victim at this terrible time."

On Monday investigating officers appealed for information despite an arrest having already been made.

Senior investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Johnny Campbell of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime team, said investigators were particularly interested in dash cam footage from cars who were in the area.

He added: “We would also like to hear from anyone who was walking in Sheep Street or any businesses in the local vicinity with CCTV footage, and who have yet to come forward, to please do so as a matter of urgency.”
