A five-week upgrade of a busy junction in south Staffordshire is set to begin this week.

From Monday, work including replacing kerbs, cutting back trees and shrubs and resurfacing the carriageway will be carried out on the A449 Wolverhampton Road junction with Dudley Road and Bridgnorth Road.

Lane closures will be in place in the first week with three-way temporary lights and some night-time closures.

Staffordshire County Council said the £860,000 project was a significant investment that would last for years to come.

Night-time closures will take place on Bridgnorth Road and Dudley Road from 23 August between 19:00-06:00 BST with diversions in place.

“It’s part of our ongoing commitment to improve our highway network across the county," councillor Rob Pritchard said.

“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience while work takes place and thank people for their patience.”
