Highway chiefs have said they do not know when electronic signs over a major A-road will be repaired after they were put out of action by cable thieves.
Some messaging signs and CCTV in Cambridgeshire have been offline since at least April.
Cambridgeshire Police said they received eight reports of cable theft on the A14 between the A1 junction at Huntingdon and the M11 junction at Cambridge.
National Highways, who manage the road, have said they are "working as hard as possible to replace the cable as soon as possible to restore the technology".
Electronic displays are out between junctions 23 and 33, where analogue signs warned drivers of "vandalism".
Detectives thought the vandalism took place between 8 April and 25 May 2025, although National Highways said thefts had taken place as recently as August.
Investigators suspended their investigation, pending new information.
A spokesperson for National Highways said they were continuing to liaise with police, but "don't have a date set yet" for repairs.
New "security measures" needed to be put in place before the cables could be replaced, they added.
Emergency SOS phones have been unaffected, according to the authority.
Police have asked anyone with information to get in touch.
