A body recovered from a river has been formally identified as missing mother-of-one Victoria Taylor.

Ms Taylor, 34, originally from Huddersfield, was last seen at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire, and was reported missing on 1 October.

The care home nurse's disappearance sparked a major police response, with a body discovered in the River Derwent on Tuesday.

North Yorkshire Police said a post-mortem examination had been completed and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Victoria’s family have been informed about this update.

"Our thoughts remain with them and we ask that their privacy is respected."
