An application has been lodged to convert a social club, which has been vacant since 2020, into a supermarket.

Documents submitted to City of Doncaster Council propose turning the former Graceholme Social Club in Warmsworth, Doncaster, into a Heron Foods store.

Previous plans to demolish the building in Edlington Lane to make way for a purpose-built retail store were abandoned when they became unviable.

Developer Unica Group Ltd said the shop would create up to three full-time and 12 part-time jobs.

Under the plans, minor alterations would take place to bring the site back into use, including widening its access road on Edlington Lane.

The site’s existing 17 car parking spaces would be retained and made available for staff and customers, the Local Democracy Service reports.

If approved, the store would be open from 08:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays.
