A nursery worker from Staffordshire has been jailed for 10 years for sexual offences involving children.

Craig Ordish from Burton upon Trent admitted sexually assaulting a child by touching, and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The 39-year-old, who worked at a nursery in the town, also admitted to making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children and possessing extreme pornographic images.

At the hearing at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, he was told he would serve three years on licence upon his release from prison.

Ordish, who was arrested in October 2023, has also been given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and put on the sex offenders register for life.

"Craig Ordish abused his position of trust to commit abhorrent crimes against young children who he was supposed to be caring for," said Det Insp Helen Kirkland, of Staffordshire Police.

She thanked families for their cooperation during the investigation, and said all those involved in it had been safeguarded and supported.
