A bank in Derby city centre where a customer was stabbed to death is set to reopen on Tuesday.

The Lloyds branch in St Peter's Street has been closed since 37-year-old Gurvinder Singh Johal died on 6 May.

Haybe Cabdiraxmaan Nur, 47, was charged with his murder and is on remand with a provisional trial date of 19 January 2025.

A Lloyds spokesperson said the company's thoughts remained with those impacted by the incident and it was continuing to support branch staff.

A family friend previously told the BBC that Mr Johal was "a smiler" and "a good friend".

He said he had just returned to Derby from a family trip to India with his wife, children and extended family.

Labour MPs Catherine Atkinson and Baggy Shanker, who represent Derby North and Derby South respectively, said in a statement that violence "has no place in our community".
