A charity drive has been launched to collect football kits for young carers in Dorset.

The Kit 4 Carers project is being run by the Dorset County FA's Youth Leadership Group in partnership with local charity MyTime For Carers.

It aims to collect as many items of kit as possible to "level the playing field" for young carers who face barriers to purchasing the necessary equipment.

Kit banks are now set up across facilities and schools in Dorset, including at the County FA's headquarters in Hamworthy.

The association has served the local community since 1887 and aims to "ignite and inspire the communities of Dorset using the power of football".

It requested items including football boots, shin pads, goalkeeper gloves and kit bags in "good to excellent condition".

The donations can be delivered to:

  • Dorset FA

  • Blandford School

  • Dexter Sports FC

  • Avonbourne Academy

  • Christchurch Junior School

  • Colehill First School

  • Broadmayne First School

  • and Purbeck School

The charity said donations from the Dorset football community were also welcome.
