Train services in Devon have returned to normal after a vehicle hit a railway bridge in Paignton

  • Published

Train services in Devon were temporarily suspended after a vehicle crashed into a railway bridge.

It happened in Paignton at about 12:00 BST, a spokesperson for Great Western Railway (GWR) said.

The line was blocked, leading to delays and some cancellations to services between Newton Abbot and Paignton, it said.

GWR confirmed train services had returned to normal by about 13:00.

It said: "Following a bridge strike at Paignton, it has been declared safe to run trains once again, so our service has now resumed."
