Arrest for GBH after man seriously injured in road

A man has been arrested after a driver left his car and was hit by another vehicle following an altercation.

Police said the driver of an Audi A3 was injured following the altercation with the driver of a Kia, on Willington Road, between the villages of Willington and Repton, at about 05:10 GMT on Tuesday.

The driver of the Kia was reported to have driven off in the direction of Repton.

A 37-year-old man, from Nottingham, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Prior to the incident the two cars are thought to have travelled down the B5008 towards Repton, from the Willington direction.

The Audi driver, who is in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Willington Road was closed for collision investigation work but reopened at 14:30.
