Former England winger Jon Sleightholme has spoken of his pride after his son Ollie overtook his international try tally during England's Six Nations victory over Italy.

Ollie, who plays for Northampton Saints, scored twice in the 47-24 win at Twickenham.

The 24-year-old's first try took his total to five, surpassing his father's four, with his second bringing his tally to six in eight England appearances.

Jon Sleightholme, who also played for the Saints, was in the stands with the rest of his family, and said: "The only emotion is pride… nobody's prouder and happier than me that he's surpassed my try tally, and long may it continue for him and England."

The victory lifted England to second place in the Six Nations table, with five Northampton Saints players in the starting line-up, including Ollie.

Jon added: "You do dream of him coming through the ranks and having the opportunity to get a full international cap, but you never think too far ahead in professional sport.

"I'm sure [Ollie] will go steaming ahead [on tries scored] in the future."

England now prepare for their Saturday's match against Wales at the Principality Stadium, with kick-off at 16:45 GMT.
