Double League Cup winner for Wolverhampton Geoff Palmer will be among those taking part in an abseiling charity event at Molineux.
The former full back said he had wondered if he had made a mistake when he agreed to do it after looking at the height of the Billy Wright stand while attending the Manchester City game.
"I am generally ok with heights, but this isn't something I have ever done before -and it's not something I thought I would be doing at 71 years of age," he said.
This year's Molineux Abseil will raise funds for Wolves Foundation, the club's official charity. Those taking part will descend from the top of the stand, about 25m (82ft), on 6 and 7 September.
"They used to tell me the best place to put wingers was in Row Z - and I'm not going to be far away from that," Palmer said.
"But I'm looking forward to it.
"There are a lot of things that people do for charity and I thought this might be my last chance to do something worthwhile!"
