A man tried unsuccessfully to save his wife from drowning while they were on holiday in Greece, the opening of an inquest has heard.
Emma Slack, 54, from Mold, Flintshire, died in Roda, on the north coast of Corfu, on 9 July.
An inquest in Ruthin heard she was with her husband, Rob, when she got into difficulty while swimming in the sea.
Mr Slack tried to rescue his wife, a training advisor, but also got into difficulty.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said an inquest was required as Mrs Slack's body had been repatriated.
Mr Gittins said official documentation from Greek authorities referred to "intense wave activity", with the cause of death given as "drowning".
The inquest was adjourned to a later date.
