Five people, including a 14-year-old boy, have been arrested after a teenager was stabbed in Birmingham city centre.

Officers from West Midlands Police were called to reports of disorder outside the Bullring just after 20:00 on Thursday, 13 November.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital but has not been left with life-threatening or life changing injuries.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while three teenagers, aged 18, were arrested on suspicion of wounding. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police said there would be extra patrols in the city centre as a result.

All five people remained in custody on Friday.

Ch Insp Vicki Stott, from West Midlands Police, called the attack "unacceptable and violent", adding it was "lucky that the boy was not more seriously injured".

"We will not tolerate knife violence in the city centre, and we have extra patrols running as we go into the weekend," she said.

Anyone with any further information or footage of the incident is also asked to get in touch with police.
