Statue given festive Trolls makeover
- Published
A village statue has been given a makeover in what has become a Christmas tradition stretching back 50 years.
This year, the Lord John Scott Memorial in the centre of Dunchurch, in Warwickshire, has been turned into Queen Poppy, a character from the DreamWorks Trolls movie.
Mystery surrounds who is responsible for the annual transformation.
Previous years have seen Lord Scott fashioned as Peppa Pig, a Star Wars Stormtrooper, Paddington Bear and even the Queen.
Local residents say it is a tradition they have come to look forward to.
Yousaf Hussain, director at Carter & King estate agents said: "It’s part of Christmas in Dunchurch, everyone waits to see what it’s going to be.
"It feels like Christmas has arrived when it’s unveiled - it’s usually about a week before Christmas when it goes up."
Lord John Scott was a 19th Century Scottish MP who owned land in the area and died in 1860.
