A man has died when a car left the A21 in Kent and overturned.

Kent Police said officers were called to the section of the road near Tonbridge at 15:15 GMT on Tuesday.

On Wednesday police confirmed the driver, a man in his 50s, had died at the scene.

Police said a red Citroen C4 was travelling between the exits for Morleys Roundabout and Quarry Hill when it left the southbound carriageway.

The vehicle overturned and ended up in a ditch.

The A21 Tonbridge bypass was closed between the A225 for Hildenborough and the A26 Woodgate Way, with congestion backed up to the Sevenoaks bypass.

Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit is carrying out enquiries and appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
