The cost of sending a standard letter on the Isle of Man will rise to 85p from 8 January

The cost of posting a letter on the Isle of Man is set to rise by 5.8% in 2024, the post office has confirmed.

The inflationary increases to several services will include the cost of a standard letter to an address on the island or in the UK going up by 5p to 85p.

Isle of Man Post Office chairman Stu Peters said rises were “never an easy decision”, but prices remained “competitive”.

The new price rises will come into effect from 8 January.

The inflationary increases will also apply to guaranteed next-day services, PO Boxes and Keepsafe and ReDirect services.

Mr Peters said: “Price increases are never an easy decision, but like many self-funded businesses, we are seeing ongoing pressures on operating costs which are unavoidable.

“Mindful that the cost of everything is on the rise for our customers, where practical the Isle of Man Post Office board have sought to limit postal tariff changes whilst still operating responsibly.

"The board are confident that with our high quality service, our prices remain competitive and value for money."

A full price guide for 2024 will be published in January, the post office said.
