Man charged after fatal motorcycle crash

A man has been charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in North Yorkshire.

Gregory Peter Newcombe, 26, was riding a Harley Davidson when he was struck by a Ford Fiesta on the A684 near Bedale on 10 July 2022.

The car had joined the road from a nearby junction, North Yorkshire Police said.

Cameron Ward, 30, has been summoned to appear at York Magistrates' Court on Thursday in connection with Mr Newcombe's death.

Mr Ward, of Oak Drive, Sowerby, was charged with causing death by careless driving, causing death while driving a vehicle while unlicensed or insured, and perverting the course of justice.

At the time of his death, the family of Mr Newcombe, from Romanby, Northallerton, described him as a "much-loved son and brother and a great friend to many".
