Armed police respond to Keynsham knife attack

Armed police have been deployed in Keynsham, near Bristol, following an assault involving a knife.

Avon and Somerset Police said one person had been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent.

Officers were called out to Aesop Drive on the outskirts of the town at about 13:40 BST.

The force said residents could expect to see "a heightened police presence" in the area.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset police said: "One man has been taken to hospital with injuries to his hands which are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Armed officers were deployed, along with response units, to the incident and a cordon remains in place while enquiries continue.

“We understand there is a great deal of concern among our communities concerning knife crime and residents can expect to see a heightened police presence following this incident.

"We remain dedicated to reducing knife crime and serious violence and we encourage anyone with any questions or concerns to speak with them."
