A second set of strikes by baggage screeners at Gatwick Airport have been cancelled after workers accepted a new pay deal, a union has said.

Baggage screeners employed by ICTS had planned to strike between Friday and Tuesday.

Unite the union announced on Tuesday that workers accepted an offer of a 7% pay increase, and other uplifts, backdated to April 2025.

A London Gatwick spokesperson said the airport was "pleased that the proposed strike action by ICTS has been called off" and it looked forward "to welcoming passengers departing on their summer holidays as normal".

Unite had previously claimed that baggage screeners employed by ICTS were among the lowest paid workers at the airport and earn "just above minimum wage".

As part of the new deal, those workers will see an increased hourly rate as well as double pay for shifts worked on Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
