Two men have been charged after a cannabis farm was discovered in a town centre building.

Cumbria Police found about 1,000 plants at a commercial premises on Lowther Street in Whitehaven on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old man from Walsall and a 39-year-old man, of no fixed address, appeared at Workington Magistrates' Court charged with producing a Class B drug.

They were both remanded in custody and are due at Carlisle Crown Court next month.
