More than £2m worth of items stolen from Kent's countryside have been recovered since the start of the year.

Kent Police’s Rural Task Force said it had seized items including 11 caravans and motorhomes, six diggers, five quad bikes and a tractor.

Several types of plant machinery was also recovered, including a forklift truck and around 4,000 tools from locations including Dover, Dartford, Cranbrook and Faversham.

Sgt Ross Haybourne said the force was "taking the fight to those targeting farms and businesses in rural areas".

The enforcement led to the arrest of 20 suspects who are currently on bail while enquiries are underway, the force said.

Sgt Haybourne added: "Where suspected stolen property is seized, we will go the extra mile to reunite it with victims.

"We remain mindful that residents and business owners can often feel vulnerable in rural areas. "
