New customer charge for incorrectly packaged post

Jersey Post customers will face charges for sending incorrectly packaged parcels from 12 May.
The postal service said a £5 surcharge would be put on all large parcels weighing up to 30kg which had not been packaged in a cardboard box.
It said the charge was being applied by its "delivery partners" to compensate for the "manual handling process" involved in sorting and shipping poorly packaged items.
It added that using a cardboard box meant parcels could go through the sorting machines smoothly and helped to avoid the manual handling surcharges.
