Man re-arrested after suspicious items are found

A man in his 30s has been arrested and counter terrorism police are investigating after suspicious substances were found in a village.

Bedfordshire Police said he was arrested on suspicion of possessing an item of use to a terrorist after items were found at a property in Hyde Road in Caddington, near Luton.

The force said the man was initially held on 6 May and bailed - but he was re-arrested on Wednesday.

A force spokesperson said the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command was taking over inquiries.

Bedfordshire Police said an ordnance disposal team had already carried out a "small controlled explosion" at the site last week.
