A man in his 70s was allegedly attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier, police said.

The victim was walking a smaller dog, which was also hurt, in Turner Avenue, Lincoln, on 8 May.

He suffered injuries to his hands and was "receiving ongoing treatment", according to Lincolnshire Police.

The owner of the grey Staffordshire bull terrier was described as a white man and about 5ft 10in, with dark hair.

He was said to have left the scene with his dog in the direction of Westwick Drive following the attack, which happened between 16:15 BST and 16:30 BST.

Police have checked CCTV in the area, and they have now asked for witnesses to contact them.
