A man has been jailed for 14 years after stabbing his neighbour during an argument.

Adam Witold Kaleta, 61, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced at Hull Crown Court.

Police were called to a block of flats in Malm Street, Hull, on 27 April after reports a woman had been attacked.

She was found in the street with three stab wounds to her back and arm and was taken to hospital.

Despite her injuries, she was able to describe her attacker to emergency services, Humberside Police said.

Armed officers were called in and found a knife covered in blood in Kaleta's flat.

Det Con Jo Palmer said: "Kaleta is a violent individual who targeted his neighbour in her own home with one motive – to cause her significant harm.

"Fortunately, the woman made a full recovery from her injuries, but this doesn’t take away the trauma and suffering she has had to live with since the attack.

"This will undoubtedly stay with her for the rest of her life.

She added: "Kaleta was completely reckless, and I am reassured that he is now behind bars and no longer poses a risk to the wider community."
