The family members of a man who went missing in Cornwall nine months ago say they are no closer to solving the mystery of his disappearance.

They reported 36-year-old Daniel Mizzi, from Plymouth, missing to the police after he was last seen in St Ives on 8 December.

Since then they have been told he had been seen sleeping rough in Hayle but police have been unable to find him.

Devon and Cornwall Police has asked anyone with information about Mr Mizzi to contact them.

Mr Mizzi's brother, Jake Hughes, said they were "no closer to answers".

"The world goes on around us and we try and carry on as normal as possible but for us time stopped on the eighth and that's it."

Karran Minchinton, Mr Mizzi's mother, said "the pain is real".

Stepfather Sean McEvoy said the family felt it had been "cut loose" by police and said it would be helpful if officers gave them mental health support and monthly updates on the investigation.

Police said extensive searches and enquiries were carried out after the last confirmed sighting of Mr Mizzi at 13:38 GMT on Friday 8 December, where he was seen walking along the coastal path at Porthmeor Beach.

Officers said: "This included area searches by specially trained search teams and police drones, CCTV enquiries, media appeals as well as financial and phone enquiries.

“Enquiries and reviews of information have also been ongoing since that time.

Officers added: "We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen Daniel to report any relevant information to us.

"This includes anyone who was walking on the coastal path on that day and anyone in the area who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage and hasn’t already been spoken to by police."
