A winter ice trail through the heart of Bridlington will be on display over the weekend.

The sculpture show, which was launched last year, is billed as a celebration of art, community and Christmas spirit.

Angela Langton, who helped organise the event, said: "We've got some spectacular ones this year."

The sculptures will be on show from 11:00 GMT on both days, and will be taken down at 17:30 on Saturday and 15:30 on Sunday.

Ms Langton said: "They start months in advance doing these ice carvings and they're just amazing."

There will be live ice carving from 12:00 each day, when a sculptor will craft a Christmas-themed work from a large block of ice.

Fire and ice shows will also take place, with chainsaws and power tools used to carve ice to music.

"We just want to make it fun and exciting and encourage people to come to the seaside in the winter months," Ms Langton said.

Throughout the weekend the Bridlington Christmas Food Festival will also be taking place on King Street.

The ice trail is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and local businesses through sponsorship.
