Man charged with attempted murder over disorder

A man has been charged with attempted murder after four others were injured in an armed disorder in Walsall.

Police were called to reports of fighting and a gun being fired at a car in Reedswood Lane, Birchills, at around 23:50 BST on 31 July.

One man was shot while three others sustained stab wounds and were taken to hospital.

Mohammed Sajid, 37, of Exeter Place, Walsall, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was detained on Friday at Birmingham Airport before a flight out of the country.

Mr Sajid is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday.

A total of six other people arrested in connection with the incident have been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

Two boys, aged 16 and 19 along with two men aged 20 and 43 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two men, aged 26 and 43 were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
