Houses have been damaged by flooding after a water main burst.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Lovell Gardens in Watton at 10:46 BST on Saturday following a flooding incident.

Bryony O'Neill said her property and her neighbour's home were damaged from the water which came from a nearby water tower, with her neighbour unable to return home on Saturday.

Talking about the fire service, Ms O'Neill said: "They were predominantly pumping water out of my next door neighbour's as she took the brunt of it."

The fire service asked people to "avoid the Lovell Gardens area" whilst it was at the scene.

Appliances from Hingham, Attleborough, Dereham, East Harling, Methwold, Wymondham and Watton, were in attendance.

Anglian Water said people in Watton and the surrounding areas experienced low pressure or no water following the incident, but this was then resolved at about 20:00 on Saturday.

Ms O'Neill, who has lived in her property for 11 years, said: "Thankfully it is mainly my lounge and carpets are going to need replacing.

"It could have been an awful lot worse if it was not for my neighbours."

She said the fire service put in defences to direct water and sandbags were given to stop water from entering properties.

"They probably saved a lot of the damage that could have been done.

"There was an awful lot of water," she said.

A spokesperson for Anglian Water said: "We are sorry some customers in Watton and the surrounding areas may have had low pressure or no water at all.

"Customers' supplies should now be back to normal, the water may look a little cloudy or discoloured, if they run their tap for a short while this should clear.

"We are grateful to customers for their patience."
