Two men have been arrested following reports of a drone flying over HMP Long Lartin in South Littleton, Worcestershire.

It was spotted on Monday night at about 23:50 BST and was seen dropping a package of suspected contraband before being flown away from the site, West Mercia Police said.

The men in their 20s were detained after a blue Seat Leon was stopped at Stafford services on the M6.

They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to convey prohibited items into a prison.

The force added that a drone was recovered and seized, along with the car, and both are being forensically examined.

A package of suspected contraband was recovered at Long Lartin and was also seized.

The two men remain in police custody.
