The A46 northbound has reopened after a trailer carrying a digger overturned near the Bingham interchange.
Nottinghamshire Police said the crash - which happened between East Bridgford and Saxondale - was reported at about 13:30 BST on Tuesday.
The digger was on top of a trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck when the trailer tipped over on the northbound carriageway, the force added.
No injuries were reported, and National Highways said all lanes had reopened by 16:00.
