Lifeboat designed at Atlantic College in 1960s back on the waves

Maritime history was made as the world's oldest surviving inshore lifeboat took to the waves for the first time in half a century.

It was back in the 1960s that staff and students at Atlantic College in the Vale of Glamorgan, came up with the iconic design for the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat - or RIB.

For years, their original vessel was thought lost.

But on Wednesday it embarked on a celebratory voyage.

Carwyn Jones was there.
