Former US steel town that's struggling to survive
The former steel town of Monessen, in Pennsylvania, is famous in the USA as the place that supplied the steel for the Golden Gate Bridge and for millions of Chrysler cars.
However, the city's steel mills have had to lay off thousands of workers in the face of foreign competition.
Since 1970, the population of Monessen has halved to 7,700 as people move to find new jobs, and the city is struggling to survive.
Lou Mavrakis is the mayor of Monessen and a former trade union leader for steel workers. He says the US federal government has done nothing to help revitalise his city, and he predicts a political backlash.
