Archaeological dig set to get under way on Ipswich Cornhill

Work has begun to dig trenches for an archaeological dig in Ipswich town centre ahead of a £3.5m revamp.

The plans will see the Cornhill levelled, new paving and potentially a new central focal point or monument.

A public exhibition of the latest design for the Cornhill will go on show this month, with work due to start in 2017.

The New Anglia local enterprise partnership, Suffolk County Council and Ipswich Council are funding the scheme.
